All eyes will be on Bafana Bafana during Group C’s progression amid the latest
FIFA World Cup qualifiers this week as Hugo Broos and his charges prepare to face Lesotho at the Free State Stadium on Friday.
South Africa are well on course to qualify for the next instalment of the World Cup and currently occupy top spot in Group C after six matches played.
Bafana Bafana bagged a 2-0 win against Benin last time out, which came after a 2-0 victory against Lesotho during the month of March.
Sitting in fifth place, Lesotho recorded one win, three draws and two losses in their World Cup qualifying campaign so far.
Likuena last jotted down a 1-1 draw with Rwanda in Group C, in a game that took place at the Amahoro Stadium on 25 March.
Lesotho’s only win in Group C came against Zimbabwe, following a 2-0 win at the Orlando Stadium on 7 June, 2024.
Reflecting on the tie, Broos will hope that his side wont falter as a result of an uneven pitch, which he recently criticized.
"I am a bit disappointed. I was in Bloemfontein and I saw the pitch," Broos said.
"They had six weeks to fix it. I have observed the efforts made by other cities – Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, and Polokwane. I am quite disappointed that they did not do the same."
